Our approach
We work toward clear heading structure, descriptive link text, keyboard operation, visible focus indicators, readable contrast, responsive layouts, reduced-motion support, and text alternatives for meaningful images. Core guide content and navigation are available without requiring a reader to operate the interactive map.
Maps and complex interactions
Interactive maps can present accessibility challenges. The Atlas pairs map features with searchable directories, guide links, place names, and written location context so visitors have another way to reach the same core information. Keyboard users can also bypass repeated navigation with the skip link at the top of each page.
Ongoing improvement
Accessibility is part of continuing site improvement rather than a one-time statement. We review layouts and interactive features for keyboard access, responsive behavior, and common automated accessibility issues as the site evolves.
